Art & Literature Competition 2020

WAAF Header

In association with Watford Borough Council (WBC), Watford Area Arts Forum (WAAF) are delighted to announce the theme of our annual competition this year is ‘VISION’. WAAF invites you to express your interpretation on the theme in any art form or in writing. Vision could cover many topics; historical visions, futuristic visions, or maybe, in the current times, visions of where you would like to be, any variations on the theme are most welcome.

We are delighted that WBC are supporting the competition as part of the Watford Together initiative. The winners of each of the competitions will receive a trophy and a £50 cash prize, 2nd prize is £30 and 3rd is £20 kindly donated by WBC.

The competition takes on a different format this year as a physical exhibition is not possible.  The judging will also change from previous years as WAAF are going to display all artwork and writing on this website. This enables votes to be made by the public via the website. One vote in each category per person.

Submissions should be made online by Friday 29 May 2020.

Entry forms and rules can be found on here.

Entries to both categories will be on display from 29 May, voting will close at midday on Friday 17 June 2020 and the results will be announced on the 20 June 2020. It is hoped a prize-giving event will take place later in the year.

Writing Challenge

Can you come up with 500 words on the theme of ‘Vision’’? This could be in the style of a factual or fictional story that you are bursting to write, or maybe a poem or a play?

Please note the entries should have no less than 300 words and entitle your work something other than ‘Vision’.
