Watford and Bushey Art Society 2009 Spring Exhibition

Saturday 9th May marks the opening of the 2009 Watford and Bushey Art

Society Spring Exhibition at the Harlequin Centre, Watford, which will run

until Saturday 16th May. This year it will be even easier to purchase unique

and original artwork as each picture will have a label showing the title,

medium, artist and price. Such pictures can transform a room and with

around 150 to choose from of varying subjects and styles there is

something for everyone.  Additionally the browser stands contain a superb

selection of unframed pictures and prints.

The work of the Society's artists includes beautiful figurative works, many

of local scenes, portraits, and still life as well as increasingly popular

contemporary and abstract works. The vibrancy of original art cannot be beaten,

once purchased it is something to be enjoyed and admired for years to come.

The free exhibition is in the Harlequin Centre Gallery,

(take the escalator near Next to the third floor).

Guideposts art display. Notes by Grelle White

A vibrant collection of artwork from two volunteers of the Guideposts Trust is

currently on display at Watford museum.

Alfie Smith has always enjoyed painting and drawing and sold his first painting at

the age of 17. His life and career took at different path for a number of years, but

on joining the art group at Henry Smith House (the regional base for Guideposts

Trust in Watford) rediscovered his joy for painting and is once again a busy

artist.

Peter Wesson has been painting and drawing for as long as he can

remember and has exhibited work around the country. Skilled at working in

various mediums, his aim when painting is to promote a sense of connection

between the viewer and the artwork through strong, evocative imagery.
Peter, a former service user at Guideposts, is now a volunteer helping run various

groups at Henry Smith House.
