Artists across Hertfordshire are now busy preparing their studios for the annual Herts Open Studios which this year runs from September 8-30.
“This year over 160 local talented artists, and designer-makers are waiting to greet you when you visit them in their studios and workshops –three glorious weeks of art on your doorstep”, comments Linda Warminger, Herts Open Studios Project Manager.
Herts Visual Arts members range from the professional to the passionate amateur – all equally keen for you enjoy their artwork.
In the Watford area alone, no less than 26 artists are taking part either individually or sharing studios. Linda mentions a few: “Kathy Foster in Chorleywood whose painting and drawings are based on everyday objects and places. Sarah How’s semi-abstract paintings and
photographs are inspired by British coastline and countryside. She is sharing her studio space in Watford with painter Kay Horsfield and ceramicist Patsy Geraghty.
“Painters Jan & Gerry Langton at Oxhey Road Studio are sharing their space with painter Ken Haslar and Ceramicist Judy Haggar. The exhibition at West Herts College contains work by both students and staff across all art disciplines. And new to Open Studios for 2012 is Suzy Taylor in Oxhey. a paper cutting artist whose artwork is intricate,whimsical and decorative.”
