Tea in a tranquil time warp
Members and friends of Watford Area Arts Forum were transported back in time to an era, when Sunday tea parties on the lawn would have been a regular feature at Cheslyn House in Nascot Wood Road, Watford.
The house and garden retain all the features of still being privately owned, so it felt like a bit of magic to be a guest at the garden party hosted by Freemen of Borough, Norman and Mavis Tyrwhitt.
This annual opportunity for artists and their friends to come together to admire and share views and physical examples of their work in the tranquility of this public beauty spot was heightened by perfect weather.
Gentle entertainment in the form of Joe and Matt showing circus skills and teaching keen guests how to juggle added to the sense of living history – and attracted a few “extras”, who had just come for a Sunday afternoon walk but delighted in the gentle, unexpected activities.
